Notifications & push
Admin notifications
On the dashboard, top-right bell icon opens the notifications panel. It shows Gaffer's alerts: new messages, RAMS overdue, missed clock-ins, cert expiries, near-miss reports.
The first time you open the console, your browser asks whether to allow push notifications. Say yes. Then the same alerts also push to your phone/desktop — you don't have to keep the console tab open to see them.
Worker notifications
On first sign-in the worker app asks Turn on notifications?. Saying yes means the worker gets a push for:
- A new message from the office.
- A RAMS they need to sign.
- A form that's overdue.
- An assignment to a new job or site.
Saying no means they have to remember to open the app — don't do that.
Turning notifications on later
Workers who tapped No the first time can still turn notifications on:
- iPhone: Settings → Gaffer → Notifications → Allow.
- Android: long-press the app icon → App info → Notifications → Allow.
Admins the same way, plus the browser's site permissions (click the padlock in the URL bar → Notifications → Allow).
Stopped arriving
- Check the browser / OS permission hasn't been revoked.
- Reinstall the app (remove from home screen, visit app.gafferai.uk/worker again, install).
- Make sure Do Not Disturb / Focus modes aren't filtering Gaffer out.
- If you're on desktop, keep the browser open — some browsers kill push for closed tabs on certain OS versions.
What notifications Gaffer won't send
We deliberately don't push for every tiny thing. The agent bundles low-priority items into the morning brief and end-of-day wrap, so you're not pinged all day. If you want more pings for a specific event, Settings → Notifications lets you tweak it.
