Payroll & timesheets
Where payroll lives
Sidebar → Finance → Payroll. You'll see this week's view by default — per worker, with hours, overtime, and estimated pay.
How hours roll up
Every clock-in/clock-out event is stored. Gaffer pairs them into shifts, applies your overtime rules (default: over 40 hours/week = OT), and calculates pay using the worker's rate and employment type.
Workers see a simple version of this in their own app under Hours — today, this week, overtime. Theirs matches yours.
Reviewing the week
- Open Payroll.
- Scan for red flags — workers with 0 hours, workers with suspiciously long shifts, or any Needs review badge.
- Click a worker to see their daily breakdown. Each clock-in has face photo, GPS, signature.
- Edit any event that's wrong — click it, fix the time, save. Edits are audit-logged.
- When the week is clean, click Approve Week.
Missing clock-out
If a worker forgot to clock out:
- Gaffer auto-clocks them out at the end of your working day (default 19:00). The shift shows with an Auto-clockout badge so you know to review it.
- You can edit it to the correct time. The worker is notified that the edit happened.
Exporting
On the Payroll page, click Export for a CSV of the week. If you've connected Xero (Settings → Integrations), you can also push the week directly — hours land as draft payruns for you to approve in Xero.
Previous weeks
Top of the page, use the date selector to jump to any previous week. Approved weeks are locked — you can still view and export, but edits require a re-open. That keeps the audit trail honest.
