Scanning & updating your CSCS card

Why it's on the app

Your CSCS card is what proves you're entitled to work on site. Gaffer scans it once so the office doesn't have to chase a photo of it every 2 years, and so you're auto-reminded before it expires.

First-time scan

  1. Open the Profile tab in the worker app.
  2. If you haven't scanned yet, you'll see an orange banner at the top — tap Scan Now.
  3. Point the camera at the front of your card. The app reads it and extracts the number, type, and expiry.
  4. Confirm the details, submit.

Re-scan / update

Got a new card? On the Profile tab, tap Update / Rescan Card. Same process. The old record is replaced.

What the badges mean

  • Valid (green) — current card, plenty of time left.
  • Expiring (orange) — within 30 days of expiry. Get yours renewed now.
  • Expired (red) — not valid. Your admin may need to pause your work until you've renewed.
  • Missing — no card on file. Scan it.

Who sees it

Your admin and office staff see the card details in your worker profile — same way they'd see a physical copy today. Nobody outside your company sees it, ever.
