Clocking in and out

The Home screen

When you open the app and you're signed in, the first screen is Home. At the top you'll see:

  • A big Clock In or Clock Out button.
  • Your current site (if assigned).
  • Today's hours, this week, and any overtime.

Clocking in

  1. Tap Clock In.
  2. If you're assigned to more than one site, pick the one you're on.
  3. Allow location if the phone asks. The app checks you're close enough to the site address.
  4. You're in. The button turns into Clock Out and a live clock starts.

Clocking out

Clock-out is the serious one — it's what payroll depends on. There are three quick verification steps.

  1. Tap Clock Out. You'll see a confirmation screen with how long you've been on site.
  2. Face capture. Hold the phone steady, look at the camera, tap the shutter. This proves it's you clocking out — not a mate covering.
  3. Declaration. Confirm the statement on screen. This is your agreement that the hours are correct.
  4. Signature. Sign with your finger in the box.
  5. Tap the red Clock Out button. Done.
i
The clock-out confirmation captures GPS, a photo, and a signature. If there's ever a dispute about hours, your clock-out is the record — and it's a good one.

Out of site range

If GPS says you're not close to the site, the app will tell you. Usually this means:

  • You're still on your way. Wait until you're actually on site.
  • Your site address in the console is wrong — ask the office to fix it.
  • Phone GPS is dodgy indoors. Step outside for 10 seconds.

Camera or signature not working

If the camera is black or won't open, you've most likely denied the permission. See Granting permissions. If the signature box won't accept input, close and reopen the app.

Forgot to clock out

Message your admin — they can add the clock-out event retroactively in the console. Gaffer also runs an auto-clockout at night so you're not charged 18 hours by accident.
