Worker app troubleshooting

Can't log in — PIN not accepted

  1. Double-check the worker ID. It's a number (e.g. 14), not a name.
  2. Re-type the PIN. If you've just had a reset, use the new one — the old one stops working instantly.
  3. Ask the admin to Reset PIN on your profile.
  4. If all else fails, reinstall the app (remove, re-add) and try again.

Camera won't open on clock-out

You've probably denied the camera permission. Re-enable it:

  • iPhone: Settings → Gaffer → Camera → On.
  • Android: long-press app icon → App info → Permissions → Camera → Allow.

Restart the app after changing.

Out of site range / GPS wrong

  1. Step outside if you're deep in a building. GPS drifts badly indoors.
  2. Wait 10–20 seconds — the phone needs a second to get a fix.
  3. Make sure Location is on at the OS level and set to Precise for Gaffer (iPhone: Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Gaffer → Precise).
  4. If your site address in the console is wrong (e.g. postcode not what was entered), ask the office to fix it.

Signature won't accept

  • Make sure you're actually drawing in the box. On some phones the box needs a firm first touch.
  • Tap Clear and try again.
  • If the box is totally dead, close and reopen the app.

Actions queued but not syncing

Yellow sync bar says X actions queued — will sync when back online. Usually this clears on its own as soon as signal comes back.

  • Check your signal / wifi.
  • Toggle airplane mode off and on.
  • Open the app and leave it on the Home tab — it syncs in the background.

Do not reinstall the app if the sync bar is showing — you'll lose whatever hasn't synced yet.

Forms or RAMS not showing

Pull-to-refresh on the Forms or Home tab. If still missing, you're not assigned to the job — ask the office to add you.

Nuclear option

If everything's broken and nothing's helping:

  1. Make sure the sync bar is not showing queued actions. If it is, wait until it clears.
  2. Remove the Gaffer icon from the home screen.
  3. Reopen app.gafferai.uk/worker in the browser.
  4. Re-install from the prompt.
  5. Sign in again.
